Marian Pankowski

Rare first edition of this poetry collection by Marian Pankowski, central figure of Polish exile literature, published in the prestigious 'Caractères' collection of Bruno Durocher. Limited edition of only 300 copies. This copy presents a significant autograph dedication signed by the author: 'To Miss Milena Milani in respectful homage, M. Pankowski, Brussels, 21 April 1957'. The recipient is presumably the Italian writer and journalist Milena Milani (1917-2013), known for her novels and the literary scandal of 'The Girl Named Giulio' (1964). Publisher's binding in blue cloth with gilt impressions, in excellent condition. Precious document of literary relations between Polish emigration in Belgium and post-war Italian intelligentsia.
