Midi-Minuit Fantastique

Midi-Minuit Fantastique no. 1, May-June 1962 — inaugural issue of the most influential French journal dedicated to fantastic, horror and genre cinema. This historic issue is entirely devoted to British director Terence Fisher, master of Hammer Films, with critical essays by Jean Boullet, Michel Caen and Alain Le Bris, along with complete filmographies of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee curated by Jean-Claude Romer. The iconic cover reproduces a still from 'The Curse of the Werewolf' (1961) with Oliver Reed. Founded by Eric Losfeld, central figure of Parisian avant-garde publishing, the journal defined the critical canon of European fantastic cinema. Complete copy in good condition, with normal period patina. Essential document for the history of film criticism and Hammer collecting.
