Elements of Philosophy

Small school volume on elementary philosophy published in the economical 'Biblioteca del Popolo' series by the Società Anonima Alberto Matarelli of Milan in 1936. Gray-blue publisher's wrappers with title 'Elements of Philosophy' written by hand in red ink on the front cover — probable annotation by a previous owner to identify the contents. The Preface, signed with only the initials A.F. and G.R., presents the work as a compendium intended for high school students preparing for state examinations. Fair condition: moisture stains on cover, diffuse foxing, fragile spine. Last page with publisher's catalogue of the series listing over sixty titles of popular dissemination at modest prices (60 centesimi per single volume). Document of Italian economical publishing production between the two wars, when publishers such as Sonzogno and Matarelli disseminated culture at low cost to the general public.
