The Fantastic in Belgian Art from Bosch to Magritte

Rare special issue of the Belgian journal Les Arts Plastiques, published in June 1954 on the occasion of the XXVII Venice Biennale. The issue is entirely dedicated to the fantastic in Belgian art, tracing a path from Hieronymus Bosch to René Magritte. The cover features an evocative surrealist woodcut signed J. Stevo, depicting a hybrid owl-beetle creature that contains fantastic and symbolic elements within its body.
