Surrealist Intrusion in the Enchanters' Domain
Rare catalogue of the exhibition 'Surrealist Intrusion in the Enchanters' Domain', organized by André Breton and Marcel Duchamp at the D'Arcy Galleries in New York in 1960. The exhibition represented the last great collective manifestation of historical Surrealism personally curated by Breton. The cover, conceived by Duchamp, features a three-dimensional element—a red plastic cone projecting from the surface—an emblematic example of the artist's interest in the tactile object and the breaking of the book's two-dimensionality. The catalogue includes an introductory essay by Gérard Legrand and comparative plates linking mythological sites, poets and artists in a typically Surrealist structure. Copy in good condition with the original cone perfectly preserved, an element often damaged or missing. Essential document for the history of American Surrealism and for Duchamp studies.
