Max Ernst — Exhibition Catalogue at the Musée National d'Art Moderne

Catalogue of the historic retrospective dedicated to Max Ernst at the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris in 1959, published by Éditions des Musées Nationaux. A particularly valuable copy due to the presence of the artist's autograph signature on the title page, in the characteristic handwriting 'Maximiliano Ernst'. The black cover features a photographic reproduction of an artist's sculpture-mask with the name in red, typical of Surrealist aesthetic design. This exhibition represented the first major French institutional consecration of Ernst following his return to Europe from the United States.
