Capogrossi โ€” Twenty-two Paintings

Rare catalogue of Giuseppe Capogrossi's solo exhibition at the Galerie Rive Gauche in Paris, summer 1956, curated in collaboration with Carlo Cardazzo. Presents twenty-two paintings from the mature period of the Roman artist, characterized by the celebrated 'comb-like' sign-symbols that made him a central figure of the Spatial Movement and Italian informal art. The cover reproduces in color a typical composition with iconic archetypal forms on polychrome ground. The biographical text in French documents Capogrossi's trajectory from the founding of the Roman Group (1927-33) to the abstract turn of 1949, citing exhibitions at the Guggenheim, MoMA, and his personal room at the XXVII Venice Biennale 1954. Copy in good condition, testimony to the international projection of Italian avant-garde in the 1950s.
